Dakota Ridge Neighborhood Boulder, Colorado

Location:

Dakota Ridge Neighborhood runs northward from Lee Hill Road, along the foothills open space until it hits the end of the plateau, which is also part of Boulder’s open space land. The eastern border is Broadway Avenue.

My Take On This Neighborhood:

Dakota Ridge continues to be a sought after and attractive neighborhood to buyers, especially those who want to live close to the foothills trails, and in a newer home.

Dakota Ridge, along with Mapleton Hill, East Chautauqua, western University Hill and the Newlands neighborhoods all are still holding their values.

This north Boulder neighborhood has been a magnet for many folks wanting to be close to the foothills and trails for years. Residents feel a heightened quality of life due to the location, at least those that like to walk/hike etc. on open space just steps away from their home. There are also many restaurants, and other support businesses in North Boulder just moments away from Dakota Ridge.

History:

This is still a coveted part of Boulder, even though years ago it was considered a bit of a rough and unpleasant part of town mostly due to the industrial feel of the area. Now that it’s more carefully developed and many new buildings, homes and businesses, it’s a magnet for many both new to Boulder as well as relocating locals.

What’s New Today:

Dakota Ridge is pretty much complete, and the newer construction homes built by custom builders and Michael Markel of Markel Homes have been sold. Inventory was tight this year and last, which means not many homes have been available for sale and those that have come up for sale didn’t last too long, unless they were over-priced.

Local Highlights:

Many of the people caught up in the bicycle fever around Boulder gravitate to this neighborhood (Boulder is home to more bicyclists and triathletes per capita than any other town in America)

Some days, you can see people flying hang gliders over the open space just to the north of Dakota Ridge.

There’s  a trail out there where I’ve often enjoyed riding my mountain bike as the trail comes off the hogback down a steep single track, and takes you under  Highway 36.
